iwatemo Project
iwatemo is a new brand founded upon the distinctive craftsmanship from the prefecture of Iwate.
The product catalogue is the result of a close collaboration of local craftsmen with the Finnish designers Ville Kokkonen and Harri Koskinen.
The project began in 2016 through a research process into the traditional manufacturing techniques of the region. The history and landscape of the Iwate prefecture provided a unique context of reference for the development of the three selected material product ranges: Tetubin Ironware, wooden carpentry and hand-made porcelain. The iwatemo products result from the timelessness and authenticity of Iwate manufacturing techniques in combination with a Finnish perspective towards design.
MONOLABON is a limited company that deals with overseas operations in relation to the production of Iwate craftwork.
